A large audience heard a magnificent performance of the Messiah by combined choirs at the Congregational Church. Soloists and orchestra delivered the oratorio with solid technique and expressive tone. The Invocation and benediction were given, and the program offset expenses for the church.
The Ladies Guild of St. Michael's will hold their annual Pietst in the church hall this evening. A potluck supper and grab-bag are planned with Mrs. Arthur Finckett as chair. Funeral services for PFC Robert A. Baumner, killed in action June 9 1944 while with the Fifth Infantry Division in Normandy, will be held Wednesday at 2 PM at St Michael’s Church. Anthony Skrobecky died yesterday morning after a brief illness. His funeral will be held tomorrow at 3:95 from the Pin Gerald Funeral Home to St. Hedwig's Church for a Mass at 9. Survived by wife Finnie Jogwik Skrobecky and daughter, with siblings and in laws in Poland and New York. Burial at St. James' Cemetery. Also mentions violence in Jerusalem with shootings of Arab truck crews and police investigation amid possible retaliation by Jewish underground.
Members of the special plays grounds and recreation committee will meet tonight at eight o'clock at the Town Hall. Chairman John on his announced the committee has been asked to recommend improvement and expansion of local playgrounds.

Fire Chief John J. Sheridan reports a Meade oil burner in the apartment of Mr and Mrs Joseph Pinho on South Main street caused a slight fire Saturday afternoon. Fire was confined to the area, with damage slight. Other tenants sent in the alarm after detecting a fuel odor.
Andrew Sargent aged 45 of 369 North Main Street was sentenced to six months in New Haven County jail by Judge Thomma Nesvy for assault with a dangerous weapon after an altercation with his wife. He was found brandishing a bread knife by Patrolman John Mikalehus.
A daughter Ellen Lorelle was born December 13 at Waterbury Hospital to Mr and Mrs Edward Newman of 12 Adna Street the couple also have a son Edward. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Harold Newman of Cherry Street and Robert Cowan of Millville.
