Paris December 15 The first official prohibition movement in Paris sponsored by the government is under way. The military governor is organizing fifty dry meetings addressed by army doctors and others on the evil effects of alcohol. Moving picture companies will be asked to cooperate.

Stimson proposed coordinating the Bureau of War Risk Insurance the rehabilitation division of the federal board for vocational education and the public health service. It urges government run hospitals and vocational training with maintenance for all honorably discharged veterans with 10 percent disability or more and retirement parity for disabled reserve and national army officers.
Grillo faced a string of arrests from 1916 to 1918 for burglary assault and theft in this city and elsewhere. He escaped jail in 1918, was recaptured, and faced jail breaking charges before release to probation. He eloped with an Italian physician’s wife and faced adultery charges wound down by costs. Police say two brothers live nearby and one owns a Hud son super six. Officer Dorney faces manslaughter charges as coroner probes Grillo’s death. Allingtown raid found no stolen foods but seized letters suggesting gang activity at a hidden rendezvous.
New Haven on December 16 police learned of Frederick A. Grillo’s killing in Norwalk and raided a Westfield street barn in Allingtown. The Hudson car linked to the attempted Norwalk robbery was found as investigators seek more evidence and target gang members. Grillo, alias bad egg, has a long police record dating to age 16 with prior reform school and theft cases and a year in state prison in 1908 and 1909.
In Bridgeport a grand jury returned true bills charging murder in the first degree against Joseph Roche of Danbury and Max Kranz and Joseph Bednar of Bridgeport. Roche and Kranz are accused in the death of New York newspaperman Arthur V. Donahue, shot near Newtown on November 7. Bednar faces charges in the hammer beating death of Andrew Preyus on September 11.
Geneva December 14 Spain was today elected a member of the council of the League of Nations. Brazil and China were elected additional non-permanent members, filling the four seat quota. China's Asiatic seat positions it to confront Japan, which remains a council member.
Robert Morris, recently sentenced in Syracuse to Auburn prison, sold about 100000 in bogus oil and industrial stocks to New Haven residents. Local victims include a hotel stenographer, Frances Rillwell, and others such as a Stratford, Conn. woman, brewer William Hil, Mrs. Charles Smith, William Radon, and Jeremiah Mahoney. Morris operated from a city office, posed as a Morris family descendant, and may be brought back after his Auburn term.
New York and New Jersey hospitals and clinics were watched by police for a wounded masked bandit believed to be one of eight involved in a Bayonne New Jersey roadhouse heist last night. About 200 men were robbed, with cash and jewelry totaling around 15 000 dollars. The robbers, who entered as New Orleans race results came in, forced patrons against walls then fled in a waiting car after a glass crash and gunfire.
Boston on December 15 Edward Davis Rice a 70 year old dye stuffs merchant with offices on Atlantic Avenue was arrested by police with an indictment warrant charging larceny of 150000 from the National Shawmut Bank and a like amount from the New England Trust Company The warrant states Rice, a leading dyestuffs and chemical merchant and Boston family member, borrowed 200609 from the two banks, making false statements about his financial condition and assets.
Constantine of Greece Queen Sophia and the family arrived safely in Venice from Lucerne and immediately boarded the Greek liner Award bound for Greece.
Geneva reports feminism has made heavy inroads at the League of Nations despite many members opposing suffrage. Women substitutes and secretaries fill benches and corridors, with stenographers, clerks, and staff outnumbering men at League and International Labor Bureau settings.
Mme Sent of Denmark addressed the League of Nations assembly for the first time speaking on the white slave traffic. She urged aid for Armenian girls and cited 29 000 held by the Turks. The assembly backed a conference to study the issue as M Ionescu of Romania reported a postwar rise in trafficking due to men’s losses.
London dispatch reports a revolution in Czecho-Slovakia with a military dictatorship in industrial districts and a proletarian dictatorship in other areas. Five killed at Breux, troops disarmed at Goeding, reinforcements fired on mobs, coal fields center of unrest, and mines in Kladno Maerisch and Ostrau closed.
Ottawa announces that costs of fighting unemployment this winter will be shared equally by Municipal Provincial and Federal governments. An elaborate relief plan drawn up by government labor leaders and ex soldiers has been approved by a cabinet council.
New York December 15 Charles M Schwab chairman Bethlehem Steel refused to answer questions on charges that his company backed an open shop by not taking orders from builders using union labor The testimony before the Lockwood legislative housing committee by Paul Starrett Louis Horowitz and Harry Black charged steel mills favored open shop buyers and that hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment and project costs were saved or increased by using union labor The witnesses said costs could be cut by 20 to 35 percent by employing union labor compared with non union labor

He warns the minority faces greater risk than Protestants and criticizes the home rule bill’s lack of safeguards. The bill passed the Lords but must return to the Commons for amendments.
