Voters OK Traffic Light Plan in Center with State Aid
Beacon Falls voters at a special meeting authorized a traffic light for Center and approved 2000 dollars plus any additional funds for one third of the cost with the state paying two thirds. The town head promised a suitable light and state and town approvals precede installation. A school building plan was set for a later special town meeting on January 14 1953 with actions to seek state aid appoint a building committee and hire an architect.

Lt. Herbert Phelan Receives Bronze Star For Korea Service
Special to The News Third Infantry Division in Korea awards Army First Lt. Herbert Phelan the Bronze Star for meritorious service as an aerial observer for the Third Division artillery between February 12 and August 3. He was rotated to the United States in July.
