Susan Karbowicz died at New Haven hospital after a nine day illness. Born October 16, 1944 at St Marys Waterbury. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Chester E Karbowicz of 97 School Street Naugyatuck. Survived by sister Madeline paternal grandfather Nicholas Karbowid maternal grandparents Ladislav and Mrs Bertechy and several uncles and aunts. Private funeral services were held from Fitzgerald Funeral Home and burial will be in St James cemetery at family convenience.
Albert Borinis, 33, of 01 Wotton Hollow, was treated after carbon monoxide fumes entered his express truck cab. He improved enough to be dismissed from St. Marys Hospital Waterbury and moved to Waterbury Institution at 12:55 p.m. by Edward Francis of 22 Coen Street.
The WIG Christmas Savings Club of the Naugatuck Savings Bank operates with 1,800 members. President Hilding Olea said the club has restricted membership while total intake surpasses last year. One woman was hospitalized after two automobiles collided on the Cotton Hollow Road near Waterbury yesterday afternoon around 4:16. The injured woman, reported to have possible fractures, was taken to St. Mary's Hospital. Police noted a second vehicle traveling south and a collision with the northbound car.
General Patton is hospitalized after a car collision with army transport near Heidelberg. He suffered a fractured neck vertebra and a dislocated shoulder but is reported resting and being treated by a neurosurgeon. Mrs. Patton plans to travel, with her surgeon, to be at his side.
Naugatuck Development Co announces 159 cash prizes for a Christmas decoration contest in Glenridge Estates. About 160 of 200 homes are occupied as plans divide the area into at least 12 sectors with sector winners advancing to finals and grand prizes. A separate judging panel will be selected from outside the community.
