Waterbury December 6 A deadly explosion at the home of Theodore Hansen killed his mother in law Mrs Ethel C Ringenberg instantly and injured three others including Hansen his wife and their 22 month old daughter. Neighbors report the blast blew out one side of the house and left the family dazed and in shock while investigators probe an air or fuel accumulation as the cause.
The Naugatuck American Legion post No. 17 authorized purchase of the Honan Funeral Home on Cedar Street for a Legion home at an estimated price of 15 000 to 20 000. The move, to be completed by April, follows weeks of negotiations and is expected to centralize activities with possible second-floor renovations. Michael J. Flonan currently operating the home is negotiating for a new location. Over 100 members attended last night’s meeting as Pearl Harbor class of 50 candidates was initiated by Waterbury post No. 2 under Acting Commander Fenton Niver.
The $1 600 000 corporation bond quota for Naugatuck in the Victory Loan drive was surpassed by 150 000 per reports from Naugatuck National Bank. National figures show strong corporate sales nationwide and the seven billion dollar corporate goal could be reached today.
