State Plans New Jail In Hartford
The Connecticut Correctional Department unveiled plans to replace the 19th century Seyms Street Jail in Hartford with a $14 million facility in North Meadows. The humane center will feature cell free of bars and windows viewed from outside, allowing inmates to see day and night. It will house 3.12 room units and transfer some women inmates from Niantic, with construction starting this summer.
