Publisher William Rusher Aims to Oust Nixon at Bridgeport Talk
National Review publisher William Rusher told about 250 students in Bridgeport that his highest ambition as a conservative Republican is to remove President Nixon from office though he expects any success not before 1976. He warned Nixon’s wage price freeze may aid the 1972 bid but long-term results are weak. Rusher named Muskie, Humphrey, and Kennedy as likely Democratic hopefuls with McGovern and Lindsay as unlikely nominees. He questioned Agnew’s future and prepared for a debate with Charles Goodell on the vice presidency. Separately in California, San Quentin will open a hospitality house for visitors financed by 10 Catholic churches, offering dayrooms, lodging, and services to inmates’ families.

Southington rink plans amid park revamp and union issues
Southington officials described a new skating area at Fairchild Park with a temporary shelter and soon to be installed fireplaces. A tow rope and fittings costing 2500 to 3000 dollars are needed to open the ski run, which will extend 1700 feet with the rope reaching 1400 feet. Mayor C J Waskowwicz Burgess Mrs Arnna Lee Van Allen and Park Chair Joseph Healy toured the site and met in the mayor's office, with no press-time outcome reported.
