Lycoming Secures $400 Million Jet Contract With Hawker-Siddeley
Lycoming Division of Avco will sign a 10 year $400 million contract next month with Hawker-Siddeley Aviation of Great Britain to build jet engines for the HF 146 aircraft. The deal, Avco’s first commercial award, could create up to 1000 jobs and production may start next year. Hawker-Siddeley plans to manufacture 15,000 aircraft using four Avco engines each.
