Connecticut Weather Friday heat relief forecast in weekend showers
In Connecticut the forecast called for upper ninety degree heat today but relief was predicted by the weekend with showers and possible thunderstorms on Saturday. Wednesday saw a high of four degrees below the August record while Northeast Utilities reported a peak power demand of 12.2 million kilowatts, with a 12.6 million kilowatt record set previously.

Painting Project To Start Painting Project To Start
Prospect says a new road line painting machine will see use in the coming weeks. Chief Administrator George Sabo Jr. said the $4,000 unit, bought with state grant funds alongside the local Highway Safety Commission, will help finish the line painting project before cold weather. The program progressed well this summer with Cornwall Ave Chatfield and Tress Rds resurfaced and Spring Rd major repairs complete. New steel guard rails will be installed on Spring Rd at a brook crossover where the road bed was raised four feet to fix a problem.

State Pays $640,800 for Hartford Housing Projects
Hartford receives a $640,800 payment in lieu of taxes from the State Department of Community Affairs for three moderate income housing projects run by the Hartford Housing Authority. The release followed an agreement to refund $517,213 in delinquent interest and to avoid extra tax burden on residents. Walnut farm acreage in California rose in 1972 to 161,620 acres, up nearly 6,000 from 1971.

Route 8 Crash Cited Driver for Following Too Closely
William Cox, 38, of Melbourne Court, cited by State Police for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart after a Route 8 collision in Shelton. Cox, facing Sept. 24 court, allegedly struck Richard Dziuba’s car from behind, pushing it forward in the westbound lane. Andre Bourquin 27 of Derby Ave. Derby was involved in the incident.

Magruder to Speak at University of Hartford
Jeb Stuart Magruder, who pleaded guilty to Watergate conspiracy, will address a student gathering at the University of Hartford on September 12 under the Speaker's Bureau.
