U S Rep James Maloney announces Prospect will receive 146240 dollars from the COPS Universal Hiring Program for four new part time officers plus 13495 to aid salaries and benefits for existing officers. The grant covers 75 percent of costs with towns funding 25 percent and supports community policing efforts across nearby towns. Seymour and Cheshire also receive 15000 each for fourth year salaries and benefits while Connecticut towns benefited from a 16 million dollar state grant for 226 officers.
