Elena DelVecchia, daughter of Mr and Mrs Anthony DelVecchia of Beacon Falls, won a twenty five dollar savings bond for topping sales at Beacon Falls Carvel in July. She graduates from Naugatuck High School and will start at the University of Connecticut this fall. Edward Thompson notes she sold 43 ice cream cakes and the store will run August with another bond as first prize.
Gettysburg College Alumni Association of Connecticut plans its annual Send-Off Dinner at the Weathervane Inn in Hamden this Thursday evening. About 92 Connecticut residents will enter Gettysburg College as Class of 1972 this September. Dr. William F. Railing will deliver the featured address and answer student questions. Arrangements are by Mrs. Elmer Rader and HR Philip Arras.
The body of Eugene O'Connor of Oakville Counsy was recovered from a lake on the Canadian border after a fishing trip. He allegedly fell overboard from a 16 foot fiberglass boat as an outboard motor kept the craft running for about two hours. The body was found on the Canadian side and sent to Fredericton NB for autopsy.
The Rev Gaylord B Noyce of Yale Divinity School will be guest minister at the Nougahick Congregational Church on Sunday September 8. He is Dean of Students and Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology at Yale and formerly taught in Istanbul and served churches in Lexington and Raleigh. He preached here in March.
The Naugatuck Art Guild announces an outdoor sidewalk exhibit and sale on the Green in Naugatuck Saturday September 14 1968 from 10 am to 5 pm. Exhibitors may display original art works not necessarily framed with 5 feet of fence space per exhibitor and extra space available for a fee. Works must be delivered 9 to 10 am and removed 5 to 6 pm with exhibitors hanging and removing during the day. Call Mrs Caparulo at 720-7884 for details. rain will cancel.
The Golden Age Art Class for seniors meets at 1 pm on Thursdays at Turtle Shed's Senior Citizens Center. The next session will be Thursday, September Sth.

Residents of Oak Terrace enjoyed a musical concert by the Naugatuck Community Band at the Terrace in the Grove. The event delighted attendees and nearby neighbors, with refreshments provided by the ladies during intermission.
The Hillside Covenant Church will hold an auction at 10 a.m. on September 14 at the church parking lot at Hillside Avenue and Elmwood Street. If rain, the sale moves to September 21. Auctioneer is Mr Dom Scavone. Items include clocks lamps chests sewing machine vacuum lawn mower typewriter old chests and a secretary desk. Babysitting delivery service and refreshments will be available.
