In Asbury Park West nine cases of ptamaine poisoning were traced to eating canned lobster. George Turner his wife and four nieces and nephews were affected after a hearty meal. Mrs Alfred Morris and her two children were also poisoned and briefly unconscious before revival.
In Yonkers New York eight year old Charles Canepi has remained in an unbroken trancelike sleep for more than four months after a head injury. Doctors suspect cerebrospinal meningitis and catalepsy as the cause. His condition shows no movement aside from slow swallowing and is kept alive by careful nursing and ice to control temperature.
In Cincinnati Aug 29 Latonia offered a good card with a six furlong handicap as the feature. Foniculaire, the well favored betting favorite, led from the break and won easily, never headed. Five favorites captured victories on the card.
