Wilkesbarre Pa August 18 John Mitchell president of the United Mine Workers plans to travel to New York to seek J P Morgan's help in settling the anthracite strike by arbitration and conciliation. Rumors claim he will meet operators to press for a settlement while Maltby colliery prepares to resume and coal shipments remain limited. Grand Master Mitzpatrick has toured the strike region urging unity among railway brotherhoods against shipping coal from non union mines.
August reports from Duryer and Shenandoah describe warnings of violence if the Warnke washery reopens, with foreign workers suspected of stirring unrest. Authorities brace for potential attacks, while miners and operators eye a settlement as troop movements loom and no immediate resumption occurs.

In Co double Oklahoma on August 18 a mob of several hundred seized Levi Reed and Bud Wingo from the county jail. They strung the outlaws up to trees to force clues about their leaders and the Casey Craven gang. Reed was strangled nearly to death and revived. the mob released them to fetch the remaining gang members.
James Cotter a City Island builder is dying in New Rochelle hospital after a wagon shaft pierced his body during a bicycle coast down Neptune Park hill in New Rochelle. He collided with a survey crew including Harry Carson and two New Rochelle women. Carson tried to move Cotter but the bicycle veered and the shaft struck him.
Paris papers report Mrs. Charles L. Fair died first and that relatives from both sides may be spared a contest. Herman Ostrichs asserts there will be no contest and vows to safeguard Fair relatives' interests. A recovered valise after the accident contained 1,081 francs and bank checks totaling about £16,000.
Rear Admiral A L Douglas flagship Ariadne arrived at St John s N F in fog escorted by Indefatigable. Seven warships including Charybdis Alert Columbine Isly and Manch assemble as Douglas comes to discuss the French shore fishery issue.
Governor William H. Taft is due in Manila Thursday after departing Singapore aboard the gunboat General Alava. The welcome will include decorated harbor ships, a small- craft procession, and arches along the march route from the port captain's office to Malacanang. A banquet will cap the arrival in the evening.

Boston police report Mrs. Anna Lipsky died at City hospital from injuries suffered when she fell or was thrown from the rear third floor window of her Roxbury residence on June 29. Her husband Karl Lipsky, who fled the scene and was jailed on Charles Street, will be charged with manslaughter.
Waterbury report states four dental offices were entered yesterday or last night. About 4000 dollars worth of gold and other articles were taken, with unspecified items missing in the break ins.
