Fighting peaked August 3 to 4 as revolutionists captured Barcelona, destroying houses and sacking all stores. Prisoners include Martin Marcano and eight generals, with 167 dead. In Baltimore on Aug. 18 the Western Maryland railroad announced it has secured the Tuananah property near Light Street Bridge and 125 acres of the Winans estate adjacent land. Ex Mayor Ferdinand C. Uatrobe, agent for the Winans property, did not deny the purchase but said owner approval is needed. Piers for ocean going vessels will be built once rights are cleared, with $8,006,000 planned for spending.
