He had appeared cheerful earlier in the day and was last seen with a visitor believed to be his sister before retiring to the toilet where the shot was fired. The death is described as a possible illness driven act with no letters found and connections to his health struggles noted by partners.

Armenian Raid Into Turkey Reported From Persia
An official dispatch from Constantinople dated August Ten says Armenian agitators from Persia invaded Turkey Friday. They killed about 200 of the Migriki tribe, including women and children. The Armenian assailants tortured the chief’s wife, and some victims were mutilated. Authorities move to capture raiders and safeguard Van amid tensions in Turkish Armenia. The city sits on the east coast of Take Van, with strong walls and a citadel, home to Armenian churches mosques baths and bazaars. Local industry includes cotton weaving and nearby production.

The British steamer Gloxinia, Petrie master, from Baltimore to Bordeaux with cargo, arrived at North Sydney in tow after a July 29 shaft and propeller failure. It drifted five days before being picked up by Dalmatia, and will discharge cargo to repair aboard.

Steel steamers for Klondike rush to spur northern transport
