W T Grant founder of the department store chain died at Greenwich Hospital at 96. He started in 1906 with $2,000 and three partners, building a 1,100 store network in 45 states earning over $1 billion yearly. He never finished high school and had two honorary degrees. He was survived by three daughters. funeral plans were incomplete.

The funeral of Mrs Jane Bea of 21 Beacon St was held from Fitzgerald Zembruski Sgrilo Funeral Home to Michael's Church for a 9 AM Mass celebrated by Rev John Moskus with organist Mrs Millie Jurzynski and soloist Mrs Stephanie Chicoski. Burial followed at St James Cemetery. The funeral of Mrs Sophia Czaplicki of 44 Beacon Manor Circle was held from Syrillo Funeral Home to St Francis Church for a high Mass of the Resurrection celebrated by Rev Mahaffee with Rev Albert Karalis assisting. soloist Mrs James Farrar. Burial also at St James Cemetery.

An experimental one of a kind 8 8 A motorcycle worth 7500 dollars was stolen from the test driver’s home near London. A BSA spokesman said there is no suspicion of industrial espionage as the machine holds little value to competitors. At first glance it appears the same as other BSA motorcycles.

PROSPECT seniors meet Tuesday August 8 at 12 30 p m in Town Hall for a covered dish lunch and to discuss the August 14 bus trip to Lake Compounce.
