New York gamblers and poolroom operators through attorneys and John R. Dos Passos move to the United States circuit court to strike down Sections 343 and 38 of the New York penal code as unconstitutional. If upheld, the ruling could invalidate convictions from raids and require a broad revision of state gambling laws. In Westbrook Connecticut Nathaniel Stevens died at 97 after a week with pneumonia at his daughter’s summer home. He was born December 4, 1803, and leaves two children. Funeral will be in Essex.
