Black Mike in Wild West Shootout at Welton

In Welton sixty miles west of Permst a violent incident unfolded as Frank Davis known as Black Mike attempted a depopulation of the town. A clash with Pete Knndeep ended when Black Mike shot at the crowd, then fired on Deputy Hoback and others before surrendering after a prolonged standoff. Local authorities wheeled the case toward district court with Mike facing felonious assault and attempted murder charges.

Jail Break by Three Prisoners Ends in Pursuit

Deputies C F Webb and Mrs Webb were overpowered as three prisoners Lea Wardlow and Trout escaped from the county jail in Natroun through the kitchen and side door. They seized a pistol and jail keys, bound and gagged the deputy, and fled toward the mountains taking ammunition and provisions. A river-and-mountain chase followed with locals and deputies pursuing until nightfall, with guards posted at river bridges and a dawn roundup planned.
