August Prodhon passed away at his son Eugene’s home after twelve days of intense suffering. Born June 9, 182d in France, he immigrated to America in 1852, lived in Dayton and Dubuque before settling in Bradford, Iowa. A carpenter by trade, he helped build many Nashua homes and left behind 13 children, five living. Funeral held at the Catholic church with Rev. Fr. Kunkel officiating. burial at Greenwood cemetery. He was known for generosity, honesty, and his jovial spirit.
Miss Mildred Slinger wed Glenn A Smith of Morton Iowa at noon last Wednesday in Andrew Slinger’s parlors on Leland Ave. Rev Geo A Hess officiated under an arch. Bride wore white with bridal roses. Attended by guests from Waverly Nashua Plainfield Horton Bassett Carrlle. The bride, educated at Charles City College, is the youngest daughter of Andrew Slinger who moved from Nashua. Groom works as a store clerk in Dorton. brother to J Smith, Bremer County clerk. They will reside in Horton after Oct 15.
Charles Dixon fell 18 feet while laying shingles on a new corn crib after roof planks and nails failed. He escaped serious injury though shaken, and returned to work. Bernice Butler fell but remained uninjured.

Mrs P E Stuart and daughter Margaret left Friday noon for Grinnell after learning of the death of Mrs Stuart's father who died suddenly the evening before. Miss Anna Eyard accompanied them to Charles City as the doctor went there for funeral services. The deceased had visited Nashua on several occasions and was well liked by many friends.
Officer Fred Widmann was shot while patrolling a Waterloo business district alley around 3 o clock Sunday. He confronted burglars behind a bicycle shop, was hit in the abdomen and hand, and died Sunday afternoon after being taken to the hog pits. Police and sheriffs hunted the gang, with no trace found. The burglars had forced entry by drilling and boring holes around a rear door lock. investigators suspect the same gang raiding smaller towns recently.
Mrs. J. W. Patterson received a letter from her daughter Mrs. A A Eastman of Oconomowac Wisconsin reporting that her husband J Eastman was accidentally shot during a hunting outing. A companion fired a gun, the bullet grazed Eastman's temple and entered his eye threatening loss of sight in one eye and possibly both followed by removal of the injured eye if pain continued. Eastman is well known in the community and recently stayed at the Patterson home.
Frank Yapp of Globe Box Company suffered a severe hand injury Wednesday when his right hand went under a jointer while assisting a worker. All four fingers were amputated. He was taken home after a doctor attended to him. The Waterloo Times-Tribune reports the incident occurred at 3 o'clock in the afternoon and describes ongoing pain.
