Mrs. Joseph French Dies at Home in Pearl Block
Mrs. Joseph French, longtime resident of Spencer County Indiana, died Thursday at noon at her home in Pearl Block after a winter illness and heart trouble. Born January 45 1834 in Glermont County Ohio, she married Joseph French in 1854 and had nine children, three surviving. A devout M E church member for over fifty years, she and her husband lived in Bremer County before moving back to their home. Funeral held at home Friday at 12 oclock with Rev. Smith officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Two Children Die In Greene Fire Explosion
The Potter children Charlie nine and Merle seven died after kerosene ignited a kitchen fire at their Greene area home. The blaze began when Merle poured kerosene on the flames causing a massive explosion. Charlie was badly burned and died at about 2 AM Thursday, Merle perished shortly after. The small frame house and its furnishings burned to ashes as neighbors rescued the children. The tragedy follows by days the Nashua High School events including a class play May 22 and a May 1 baccalaureate at the Methodist church with a June 1 graduation program and the Alumni banquet June 5.

Lightning struck the W. J. Allen residence at 726 West First Street at 2 30 Monday, tearing half the chimney and plastering walls. Fay Allen 9 escaped death as plaster flew across rooms and a closet was shredded. five others in the house felt minor effects.

Fire damages stock and walls in Waterloo home
A residential fire caused no fatalities but ruined stock and scorched the wall in Waterloo. Denny Barney of Floyd owns the residence and was notified by phone as phones in that city area were out. Street sprinkling is handled by W. J. Allen, formerly of Nashua, now in Waterloo. Commencement at Plainfield high marks four graduates Arthur D. Miller Hattie E. Thompson Jessie A. Wesselisx and Harry J. Trnner with a baccalaureate sermon by Rev. Kelley.

Belden Family Reunion Honors Eph Belden Before Departure
Twenty three Belden relatives gathered Sunday at Mrs Catherine Belden’s home to bid farewell to Eph Belden of Nashua soon leaving for Ling ham. The surprise visit included four generations and a shared dinner. Attending were the Belden family plus the Troutner and Wilson families of Horton, the Smiths of Plainfield, the Van Auken family, Mrs Hooker and son Nashua and Arthur Watts of Bell ingham. Lightning Strikes Peterson Farm Hog House Again
A lightning bolt hit the H. M. Peterson farm near the Charles City road on Thursday night, killing eight hogs and injuring three others. The bolt followed the barn lightning rod, threatening the structure and recalling a 20 year cycle of strikes that damaged buildings and horses. Mrs. Peterson suffered carbolic acid burns mistaken for liniment while treating her husband’s rheumatic pain. both are recovering as the barn damage is assessed.

Blanche Ackley Weds Marshall Huffman in Ionia Home

Workplace Injury At Westfield Involves Flying Wood
Frank Strickler, an International Harvester employee at Westfield, was injured this morning when a piece of wood eight inches long became caught in a machine and flew toward him. The shard penetrated the forehead and exposed the frontal bone as he moved to avoid the impact. He was at work near the machine when the accident occurred.
