Obituary of Charles Mitchell of Waverly noted in Gazette

Charles Mitchell born April 24 1818 in Lancastershire England died August 1901 in Waverly age 86 years 3 months 44 days. Married to Hannan Miller November 14 1841 they moved to Illinois in 1846 near Lynnville Morgan Co later to Sangamon county. He supported churches and aided in church work. Funeral held at his daughter Mrs L A Bryan’s home conducted by Eid Battenfield and buried in East cemetery. He left several grandchildren and a devout Christian life.

Mozirtimishe Club Meets in 1901 Social Notes

The Mozirtimishe club met at Ezra Arnold's home on August 30 1901 with attendees Laura Howards, Evelyn Losey, Mauda Losey and Helen Anderson. Pieces performed included Soldiers March Glory Waltz Morning Glory and William Tell March. The next meeting is set for September 18 1901 at Miss Helen Andersons home. A court notice records a September 4 1901 proceeding at Belleville Court House with Judge Potter. In closing the paper extends best wishes for a happy journey through life.
