E E Holly shipped fifty four head of cattle to Kansas City, selling for 12 dollars each, 25 cents above all others Monday and a record price for the locality. The steers weighed 1361 pounds, up 360 pounds since October 24, costing 7.15 per head with an advance of 485 dollars. Grandma Oliver visited Mrs. B C Morton in Belleville Friday night.

George Henry Cottam born September 14 1842 in Lake County Indiana died March 17 1917 near Hubbell Nebraska at age 74 years 6 months 3 days He married Hannah Shoup November 14 1857 they had six children four sons and two daughters Two sons and two daughters survive They moved from Indiana to Republic County Kansas in 1871 then to Thayer County Nebraska in 1879 living near Hubbell since Health declined the last two years and he lived with daughter Mrs J W Lite A Masonic burial service was held at Maple Grove cemetery Sunday afternoon The Hubbell Standard notes a musical program by Presbyterian church ladies on Friday April 6th

Grandma Thomas enjoyed a joyful March 28 gathering with many relatives and neighbors. The M E Aid Society gifted potted flowering plants while guests brought baskets and shared a big dinner. The day closed with Bible reading and a short prayer service.

Seventeen ladies gathered at the brick store on Tuesday afternoon and escorted to the Bobenhouse home where Miss Mable Bobenhouse received a miscellaneous shower. Mr Moore the Narka mail carrier narrowly escaped serious injury when his wagon toppled near F K Smith farm and Emil Lesovsky farm. He crawled free with a sprained knee. team fled but was captured at Arthur Brown farm. He finished his route using a loaned buggy.

A two year old mare mule has been missing from G C Bonham's Mahaska Kansas place since Thursday March 22 with a liberal reward offered for recovery. Edith Koerner spent Sunday with friends in Fairbury. M J Goff visited last month then left for his farm in Phillips County taking several hives of bees and goldfish. He plans to return to his LaCrosse home after tending farm interests in Phillips County.
