Death of Pioneering Republic County Settler John W. Cory
John W. Cory, a pioneer and one of Republic county’s first settlers, died Monday at 1 40 pm at his daughter’s home in Concordia. He came to the county on March 17 1862 with his father, homesteaded near Talmo, later moved life to Concordia, and lived with his daughter since his wife's death four years ago. He was 70 years old on February 11, 1920. He leaves two daughters and seven sons. Funeral services were held in Concordia with interment at Zion cemetery north of Talmo.

Francis M Bush born in Van Buren County Iowa March 30 183? moved with family to Wayne County later enlisted in Iowa cavalry and infantry serving in Pea Ridge Arkansas and Civil War campaigns. Married Elizabeth Webb in 1865 with three children, two of whom predeceased him. He operated mercantile businesses in Chillicothe and Belleville Missouri before retiring in 1909. An auto accident preceded a prolonged illness ending in death March 20 1920 at age 77 years 11 months 20 days.

Franklin C. Kramel was born in Republic County Kansas on July 18 B6 and died in Albuquerque New Mexico on March 16 1920 at age 33 7 28. He attended Narka school and graduated from Omaha Business College in 1905 then worked as a bookkeeper for Farar Davis Live Stock Commission Co Kansas City for two years. He later worked for an eastern order buyer until illness prompted a move to the Presbyterian sanitorium in Albuquerque where he remained about 383 months before his death. His body was shipped to Narka for funeral at the M E Church on Sunday at 2 pm with Rev C J Beddy preaching and a quartet providing music.
