Roll of Honor lists subscribers who paid cash on subscription since the last issue. Names include Il C Hancock Amos Hubka J A Anderson and W F Ward. New subscribers are indicated by a mark in parentheses.
The program featured a decorated church and crowded audience. It included opening song, choir readings, lessons by Roy Hunt and Esther Ward, flag march by boys, recitations, songs by four little girls, and a closing chorus led by the choir with remarks by the pastor and a small collection.
May mail data show three carriers totals with pieces delivered and collected and weights. W F Shipman on route 1 delivered 4882 and collected 802 for 617 pounds. S A Morris route 2 delivered 5152 and collected 880 for 655 pounds. F E Morris route 3 delivered 4821 and collected 563 for 654 pounds. Overall 14855 delivered, 2304 collected, total 1926 pounds with 62 in money orders collected.
City urges residents to trim trees and raise lawns for a neat appearance. Clean gutters and alleys improve health and curb appeal. Mow weeds in vacant lots and parkings to remove the unsightly neglected look.
The Republic County Fair Association contracted an airship company to stage a three day aerial exhibition during the fair in mid September. The event has been secured with the air display to accompany Belleville activities.

Editor Muth of the Munden Press fell gravely ill Sunday during a visit to Narka. Initial fears of ptomaine poisoning gave way to a diagnosis of appendicitis, with doctors hopeful he can recover without surgery and resume duties soon.
Cyrus A. Morris formerly of Narka and Killa Borrevard of Lincoln Nebraska were married at Sheridan Wyoming on Wednesday evening June 7. The couple will live in Sheridan where Morris works at the City Restaurant. The News extends congratulations and best wishes.
Reid Greuter turned nine with a Tuesday afternoon gathering invited twelve friends. Games were played and Mrs. Greuter served ice cream and cake as remembrances were given.
A crowd of young people carried lunch baskets and fishing rods yesterday and visited Charles Wilkinson’s to spend the day. Their exact luck is not reported, but they clearly enjoyed the afternoon.

Local residents from Cuba Cortland Scandia Kackley Rep ublic and Leithdw attended the Belleville race meet Wednesday and Thursday. Frank Tucker S Tiptor John Pinney E H Van Natta John Stanton and Roy McCullough visited for business and races. Edith Lowell of Belleville visited relatives last week.
