The writer was called Feb 1 to attend the funeral services of Mr. Russell Courier four miles south of Chester. He was born in Iowa Mass and was 56 years old at his death. He enlisted at eighteen and served nearly four years in the Civil War. He has joined the Grand Army of the Republic and lived a Christian life for many years. He died full of Christian hope. He leaves a companion and six children. He was a kind father neighbor and citizen whose labors will be remembered. l. P. McKee.
The official ballots were counted yesterday in the Hall of the House of Representatives with both Senate and House present. The process fulfilled the constitutional requirement as the final act of the electoral procedure.
