Red Cross Meeting Set for February 8 Saturday

The Red Cross will hold its regular business meeting on Saturday February 8. Attendees are urged to attend and sewing volunteers are invited to come for sewing materials to take home.

William Westhausen a Republic county farmer near Talmo serves as a director of a newly started Socialist publishing house at Lawrence Kansas. Petition for Midland Trail road in Cloud County completed

The petition from the Midland Trail district from the Clay County line to the Meridian road proposes a concrete 18 foot wide road. More than sixty percent of landowners in the benefit district signed the petition as presented to county commissioners.

Mark Bowman Drowned At Rose Creek In Hubbell Nebraska

Mark Bowman of Hubbell Nebraska was found drowned in Rose Creek Tuesday evening. The 69 year old paralytic stroke survivor had been home all day before disappearing at about five o'clock. He is survived by a wife and six children. Funeral services were set for Saturday February 8. The body was recovered by O J Gooden and Alfred Miller and taken to Wm Shell’s undertaking room. The obituary will be published later. Ray Ashton is sick with the fly.

Burglary Suspect Held After Court Appearance

David P. Triesen, a transient, was arraigned in Justice Court before Justice A. A. Burk at Belleville and pled guilty to burglary. He was bound over to the February district court term opening Monday. Triesen allegedly broke into Charles Moore's Agenda home and stole clothing and footwear. He remains in Belleville county jail awaiting trial.

Belleville High School Burns In Early Morning Fire

Fire destroyed the interior of Belleville High School in the early hours, leaving brick walls intact. The 60 000 dollar pressed brick building housed a 21 000 dollar insurance. Fire began in the domestic art room on the third floor and spread before alarm. Firemen fought for three hours with chemicals exhausted and water streams from the ground. Deshler Couple Die in California Auto Crash

Deshler mourns as Mr John Rodenburg and wife die Saturday in an automobile accident near Orange California during their honeymoon. Rodenburg, Deshler bank president and livestock man, and his wife were long known in Thayer county. Bodies brought back to Deshler for burial.
