Miss Anna May Ball of Belleville and Mr. John Smith of Liberty Nebo were married Friday December 19 1919 at 2 pm in the parsonage of Rev John Oxley. Ball is the daughter of Chester and Mrs Ball of Belleville and has been at home since graduation. The couple plans to reside on the Kuhn farm recently vacated and will be in Summerfield for a short visit.
Miss Hallie Jones wed Mr E L Quintard on December 16 1919 at 9 am in Clay Center Kansas. The ceremony was quiet with few guests. Mrs Quintard formerly ran a Belleville millinery shop and the couple will reside at 802 Kirwin Ave Salina Kansas after February 1.
Win Hay clerk reports the Canon City Colorado marriage of his nephew Melvin E. Hay to Viola C. Henderson. The ceremony occurred Sunday December 21 1919 at 6 pm conducted by Rev Co J Armentrout. Hay is eldest son of John Hay of Canon City with many local relatives noting his Canon City boyhood.

Alexander Howat president of the Kansas district United Mine Workers was remanded to Marion County jail by U S District Judge Anderson on contempt charges formed after a brief afternoon session It follows a morning bond dispute and continued threat to jail Howat if he continues to violate the Ler Act injunction amid a Kansas coal strike involving 364 strikes in thirty three months with Gov Allen of Kansas and miners leader John L Lewis named in the dispute

Allen’s call during the recent coal strike. He found the experience challenging yet valuable, per reports to his father. Miss Clara Kramer visited Munden on Saturday.
