Death Claims Two Pioneers In Local Community

Since the last issue two respected citizens, Philip Feil Sr. and B H Speer, have died. Early settlers, they shaped the region by building schools and churches, raising families, and leaving a good name. The community offers heartfelt sympathy and urges others to live rightly for a joyful reunion in the hereafter.

Philip Feil born in Germany June 14 1838 dies at Narka Kansas December 16 1915 aged 77 years 6 months 2 days He came to America in 1848 and settled in Narka 27 years ago One of the village’s oldest settlers he joined the Presbyterian church early in residence He married Margaret Weber in 1864 and had eight children four sons living at Narka and two daughters at Haddam Kan

Funeral rites for Phil Feil held in Narka Presbyterian Church

The obituary notes Phil Feil of Pawnee City Nebraska is mourned by wife family and friends including eight grandchildren and three nephews. Funeral services were at the Presbyterian church in Narka conducted by L Keeler with interment at Maple Cemetery.

Presbyterian Notes Sneak Christmas Sermon and Service

Mrs Henry Peterson hosted a utility shower at her home for Miss Lillie Fiser, the bride to be, on Saturday December 18. Guests created bell shaped booklets with EL letters and enjoyed a two course luncheon with green, red and white decor.
