Dragoo and kin share Sunday visits across families

Mr and Mrs Carl Dragoo and baby visited his parents Mr and Mrs Sherman Dragoo on Sunday. Several local families including the Goellers, the Dragoo and Coonrod families spent Sunday with relatives. Mrs J H Coonrod helped cook for threshers and Mrs Carl Dragoo attended the Ladies Friendship Club at Reynolds.

Detroit agents from the department of justice inspected a cold storage plant and found a frozen hog claimed to have been in storage twenty five years. Officials said such a span would be an oversight and planned further investigation next week.

Vance Lindahl Wins Silver Cup at Republic County Fair

Vance Lindahl of Agenda in Republic County wins the silver cup for best breed son at the Republic County Fair. His entry, eight pigs shown in his first year, collects ten ribbons plus the cup, including four firsts three seconds and two thirds. The champion hog weighed 1010 pounds and is noted as the Kansas City market’s largest sold.

The Clyde baseball team defeated Wayne 11 to 8 on Clyde field. Clyde hitters stayed strong while Wayne used three pushers to try to stop them.

Delos Hazen Calls For Belleville Telescope

Delos Hazen of Wayne or Talmo visited this office last Saturday to borrow a copy of the Belleville Telescope. He claims to have been in Jewell County a few days and notes the hide market is poor. Hazen trades mainly in skunk hides and jokes he could become as rich as Henry Ford if he lives long enough.

County approves two Federal aid petitions for Midland Trail

County commissioners met this afternoon and approved two petitions for Federal aid on the Midland Trail through Miltonvale and Glasco. Separate petitions were needed for hard-surfacing within the two cities. No other business was transacted.

Washington aug 20 repeal of the daylight saving act was passed by the senate 57 to 19 in support of the house measure over President Wilsons veto. The law takes effect after clocks fall back to normal in October and marks a rare veto override by two thirds in both houses.
