Man Shotted Foot By Accident During Hunt

C A Hall was accidentally shot in the foot while hunting Tuesday evening. He was rushed to town for medical aid and his foot was amputated above the ankle.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Herink and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Herink and Amos Herink came back home Saturday after spending a few days visiting in Council Grove Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Skubal of Jennings Kansas arrived Thursday for a short stay with their uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. Antone Brabec.

Shoemakers Purchase 48 Acres Near Centralia

Mr Shoemaker reports buying 48 acres of farm land and all farming equipment at Centralia Washington while staying there on a western trip. He plans to move soon after his sale scheduled for the 30th inst. John Brown rents the Shoemaker farm and will occupy it after they vacate.

James A Brooks Injured in Barn Horse Kick

James A. Brooks was seriously injured Sunday when a horse kicked him in the barn during a storm. He suffered a fractured knee, two broken ribs, and extensive bruising as he moved between stalls. The family notes the horses had been gentle before the lightning frightened them.

Farmers Union Picnic Draws Large Crowd in Republic County

Republic county Farmers Unions held their annual picnic in the Frank Douglas grove northeast of town. A large crowd of members and families attended with state speakers, a band, various sports, and a basket dinner at noon. State Lecturer Swanson delivered the principal address.
