Obituary of August Nafziger 1836 1912

August Nafziger born near Coblenz Germany December 7 1836 died August 9 1912 after a lingering illness at age 75. He came to America in 1853 settling in McLean County later moving to Tazewell County then to Republic County Kansas near Narka where he lived until death. He married Helen Erismann November 3 1870. survived by two sons Alvin and Herbert and daughter Augusta. member of the Mennonite Church. He was the last of a large family and left a faithful lifelong companion and father.

Farewell Social for Mrs Hooker by Presbyterian Ladies Aid

A farewell social was held at Mrs C I Hooker’s home by the Presbyterian Ladies Aid Society on Wednesday afternoon in August. The event featured conversation, needlework, music, and dainty refreshments. Mrs Denton presented a bound copy of The Rosary. Mrs Hooker expressed gratitude as Mr and Mrs Hooker prepare to move to Los Angeles California after twenty five years in Kansas.

Ladies' Rest Room Opened in Fairbury by F E Tincher

F E Tincher, successor to Tincher & Dickenson Bros, has prepared a Ladies' rest room in his Fairbury clothing store. The room features a toilet, lavatory, towels, ice water, electric fan, couches, chairs, table, and reading material. Ladies are invited to use it free of charge and may leave packages and coats for safekeeping.
