Mule Incident Kills Rydal Farmer Grant Skidmore
Grant Skidmore aged 27 of Rydal died Saturday afternoon at Concordia hospital from injuries after being kicked in the stomach by a mule. He lived on the old Col Bradley road in Belleville township southeast of Rydal and was taken to the hospital early Saturday. Survived by a widow and three year old child. he was brother in law to Elijah Fike of Providence Chapel and formerly lived in the Norway neighborhood.

Courtland Jubilee Draws Crowd Amid Harvest Busy Season

Samuel Gregory a 50 year old widower and farmer dropped dead Sunday afternoon in a Munden garage shortly after dinner Doctors attributed heart disease He had sold the garage recently and lived in Munden about six to eight years Born March 16 1872 in Laurel County Kentucky His wife died earlier and is buried in Steele City Nebraska His brother J T Gregory of Reynolds Nebraska came for the funeral. Remains were taken to Steele City for burial beside his wife Survivors include several children and siblings.

A. G. Britt and his three sons harvested a 250 acre wheat field near Bloomington Osbourne County in fifteen days using a combine and hauled the yield to the elevator. The crop averaged 20 bushels per acre and seven days were spent harvesting. After harvest a tractor with plows and horses turned the field in eight days.

Farmer Yields High Wheat Returns Near Munden
J W Davenport, northeast of Munden, harvested eighteen bushels per acre on an 80 acre tract and 130 acres produced 1800 bushels. Aaron Pointer west of Munden grew 500 bushels on eighty acres. Some Narka area wheat topped thirty bushels per acre, with higher yields on small tracts often from old alfalfa ground.

Deaths Henry Wray, Courtland pioneer and church founder
Henry Wray, 68, father of M H and C E Wray of Courtland, died suddenly Thursday night in Ridgefield Washington. Born April 14 1854 in Kurtz Indiana he moved to Kansas in the 1870s and lived there until 1907 before moving to Washington. He helped build the first house on the Courtland townsite and was an organizer and charter member of the Courtland Christian church and an Odd Fellow for 35 years. Survived by a wife five sons and one sister in Indiana his remains were shipped to Courtland for funeral conducted by Elder W Pewett Sunday afternoon.

Death of Chis Taylor in Salina Shocks Former Community
Charles Taylor eldest son of Mrs Bert Taylor formerly of this place died last Wednesday in Salina from a rheumatic attack after a long flu illness. He was a jovial well liked worker, helped with the transfer business with his father Bert Taylor, later worked for Rock Island at Kansas City and Topeka. He is survived by a wife, Lynn, mother, one sister and several brothers. Funeral services were held in Salina and burial near Salina where his father and brother rest.
