European gale wrecks vessels on Lake Michigan shores
Terrific gale on the lakes causes the steam barge Chamberlain to become disabled off Sand Beach Michigan while its lumber-laden consort Victor drifts ashore near Rock Falls. Seven aboard, including a woman and child, are rescued by the Sand Beach Life Saving Crew. Nearby schooners Eugene Trader and Josephine also ashore with crews saved.
