Revelstoke Railway Progress Report from Early Stage

Seven miles of track laid on the Revelstoke branch with gravel trains following tracklayers. McMartin says the work on the far end is advancing rapidly. Steamers Kootenay and Lytton run daily from Revelstoke with iron. First freight cars left Tuesday for O Learys camp and three cars Wednesday for Manns camp. Witnesses praise Willis Armstrong Hub Glenn and Dave Lyttle for skill and efficiency. Contractors Mann Bros move to New Denver for two miles of line from Three Forks. McLean Bros win grading for mine miles on Slocan lake. Wm. McLean senior has built five miles and runs the business.

The steam tug Nakusp imported from Seattle by Peter Genesle is nearly ready for business. The 38 foot by 8 foot craft mounts Chas. P. Willard’s 30 hp high pressure engine driving a 36 inch four blade screw at 200 revolutions per minute. She ought to be a flyer.

Giant Slocan Galena Boulder to be Shipped for Smelting

The huge high grade galena boulder found in Slocan by Jack Cockle sold for 2000 dollars to W. D. Middaugh. It is to be mined and shipped to a San Francisco smelter with a special train from Revelstoke to Vancouver. Photos will document each step for promotion.

Crown Point Gold Claim Prospect Near Vancouver

J W Haskins and W Miller arrived from Big Bend with quartz samples from the Crown Point claim on Gold Stream between Trench and McCulloch creeks. The rock assays show rich free gold and suggest a valuable venture may lead to a ten stamp mill on site and local crushing.

T. A. Garland announces the Nakusp branch will close by Nov 12 with goods offered at greatly reduced prices. D. K. Book serves as manager. R. T. Lowery, editor and financier of the Leper, departed for Kaslo last Thursday planning a leisurely trip to reach Kaslo on Sunday to avoid Kaslo brass band noise. F. W. Jordan and wife returned from Fire Valley after a two week hunting trip.
