Danville and Quebec Asbestos Mines Shine in Ontario News
The Danville region in Shipton township Quebec hosts the Jeffrey asbestos mines three miles from the village. Since 1879 owner Mr Jeffrey expanded operations. by 1891 steam engines and patent boom swingers increased output. The mine employs up to 150 workers with annual output near 1000 tons and prospects to reach 2000 tons. Canada leads global asbestos production with about 90 percent of usage from its mines, driven by Canadian Geological Survey findings.
