On the Yukon River in Alaska placer mining attracts much attention as miners converge on the Yukon valley. About 1,000 miners and traders are said to be in the area with many entering via the Chilkat pass carrying outfits of tools and provisions weighing 500 to 700 pounds. Forty Mile Creek is the deepest town at the diggings. Prices aboard river boats run high with flour at 17 dollars per hundred, bacon 40, beans 20, sugar 33, dried fruit 25 and butter 75.

Rail Line Progress and Incidents Update
D McGillivray travelled to Vancouver on Sunday. The C and K road between Nelson and Robson is operating again. The WW and S line runs at 12 miles per hour. The I C Co moved supplies from the Green Slide to Nakusp. Fire caused 6000 dollars damage to bridges near Wilson Creek last week. The N and S section reaches Wilson Creek.
