Mint Orders Spark Silver Dollar Coinage Across Three Mints

Director Preston of the Philadelphia Mint orders firing of mint officials at San Francisco and New Orleans to begin coining silver dollars immediately. The three mints will handle blanks and ingots first, with about 1.5 million dollars in silver ready to coin. Seigniorage coinage will be limited to a few million, but full mint activity is planned this year.
