Fire destroys Coquille plant and four boxcars
A blaze at the More Marital S Sherwood foret plant in Coquille burned Saturday afternoon around 1 30 pm. Fire units with tanker crews battled the flames, damaging the plant and four boxcars. Loss of income affected 66 to 70 families as investigators seek the fire’s origin. The plant produced six million 30 foot units monthly and 260 million surface feet yearly.
