36th Annual Coos County Fair Nets Strong Local Entries
The Coos County Fair featured a thriving livestock exhibit with record entry levels since the early thirties. Top acts included a premier horse show with nightly vaudeville by Eddie Burke and a Browning Brothers carnival, plus professional horse races and a Pony Express win by Coquille riders Marjorie Epps Carol Hall and Marty Spaulding.

Sumner-Catching Inlet 4 H Dairy club wins the herdsmanship contest at the 1947 County Fair earning a silver loving cup to be held by the club until another wins it three times. They also receive a new hammer mill from Southwestern Motors, Inc. for improved feed grinding. Phyllis Miller and Louise Southmayd win senior and junior dairy showmanship honors respectively, with calf blanket and show halter as special awards. Darwin Van Leuven places first in the beef show.
