The town and fairgrounds bustle as about 65 horses prepare for three days of racing at the fair. Rides, sideshows, and nightly performances from the Eddie Turke Amusement Co. highlight the program with bands, parades, and concerts planned across the event, drawing large expected crowds.
Eyewitness recounts elk activity on Blue Ridge where a herd of 25 including five bulls was shot, cows crowding like sheep. Jap recalls elk sleeping near the tower and calves playing on logs before hunting season, now absent due to intruding hunters.
Representatives of 19 home extension units in Coog county will meet in Coquille next Tuesday to discuss Party Planning in the Home. Miss Tvola Jensen of O8C will lead the session and cover games and other home entertainment features.

Also returning to Washington were Orval Forbes and family after visiting the Frank Zumwalts the past week. Miss Wilma Eggers arrived from Portland to spend two weeks with her parents Mr and Mrs Eggers.
Jack Dunnig, a Portland graduate newly admitted to the Oregon bar, arrives in Myrtle Point to join Attorney Wallace B Dement in his firm. He will move Sept 20 to 4th and Ash with Frank Smith and Arthur R. The reader notes Dunnig’s strong recommendation and temporary lodging at the Myrtle Hotel.
