Remodel of Security Bank Building Under Way in Oregon

World Community Day Observed At Methodist Church

A 15 man crew from Mountain States Power worked yesterday stringing a new primary feeder line along Maple Street to handle heavy electric load. Wires of the main feeder caught fire near the Superior cheese plant Tuesday night as heat from the load caused rubber insulation to ignite. Bill Head of Coquille said two new feeder circuits will be built in Myrtle Point soon and the Spruce Street line is next, with heavier wires planned for the new lines.

Chest Drive Shows Promise Reaching Quota

Myrtie Point area chest drive progress reported by Mrs. Arnold Melby chairwoman of the Junior Women's club committee. Nearly $1200 turned in so far with areas still to report, suggesting compliance with the $1243 quota. The Myrtle Point target includes 3907.28 for county budget 496 for Boy Scouts and 190 for the army.

Myrtlewood Camp Expansion Talks by Local Churches

Representatives from the Methodist and Brethren churches in the Southwest Oregon district met at the Brethren church to plan year round use and improvements for Camp Myrtlewood near Bridge. Fire destroys new home of Frank Williams in Remote

Early Friday a fire of unknown origin gutted the Williams residence in Remote. The house, recently completed with new furnishings and an electric kitchen, was occupied after midnight and reduced to flames. The Williams family is staying in temporary quarters nearby with Mr. and Mrs. M Bryant.

The Coos Curry Pioneer and Historical Society appointed new associate directors at a board meeting led by President J. Albert Matson.
