Myrtle Point hosts a city wide prize event with 432.45 in grand prizes from 34 merchants. Contestants guess at each store for prizes with no strings attached and a final Nov. 6 public drawing determines grand prize winners.
A columnist argues against Proposition Bill No 7 to close all coastal streams south of the Columbia River to commercial fishing. Citing official Oregon figures, the Fish Commission released 74 618 812 hatchery salmon during 1951 1952 and spent 95 432 56 on stream clearance ladders and spawning beds, urging voters to defeat the measure.

A LENNSENEVE style notice reminds Coos County voters of Senator Guy Cordon's past aid during a fiscal crisis. It credits him with preventing tax hikes and bond sales that would burden taxpayers and urges voters to consider his impact before next Tuesday's general election.
Dr Vincent Bennett spoke to three groups Sunday in Myrtle Point under the Interchurch Fellowship. He addressed the Methodist church during Sunday school, preached at the Presbyterian service, and spoke at a 7 30 union service in the Methodist church. He also appears on KWRO at 9 00 am and will speak Thursday noon at the Myrtle Point Rotary club. The Interchurch group notes his Bible teacher and evangelist background and says he will remain through November 5.
The Bridge school carnival will be held Friday night October 29 at 7 30 p m. A talent show leads the evening with singing instrumental numbers dance tumbling and costuming. Prizes come from local merchants in Myrtle Point Coquille and Coos Bay to aid the hot soup fund of the Bridge school.
Myrtle Point and surrounding territory contributed to a Red Cross bloodmobile drive last Thursday, exceeding their 100 pint quota by delivering 111 pints. Out of 136 respondents, 25 were temporarily rejected. Co chairs Mrs Jack Dunn and Mrs John Heeren thanked volunteers and listed many who helped in canteen, checking room, nurses, registration and donor rooms.
