Car Bud Stewart and Miss Alberta Volkmar quietly wed Oct. 19, 1939 at the Charles Coding home in Coquille with attendants Lyle Stewart and Eliola Volkmar. The couple plan a two week honeymoon in California and will reside near Powers after a return trip to Nevt Power.
The Myrtle Point Junior Woman's club hosts a box social and card party at Myrtle Grange Hall tomorrow evening, Friday, Oct 27, starting at 8 pm. Bridge, pinochle and lexicon featured. box lunches with sandwiches, salad and dessert will be prepared by members. coffee and cream provided. Lunches sold to include game admission. public invited.
Norwy and Mrs Walter Laird hosted visitors at the Empire home including their son Norman and Ralph Harry and Richard with Dorothy. The Widmark and Laird households welcomed multiple relatives from Klamath Falls Port Orford Powell Butte and Dora during a weekend of family visits.
Named Chairman Leland P. Linn principal of Myrtle Point High school will chair a special group presenting a classroom procedures demonstration at the 11th annual Oregon High School Principals association conference in Salem tomorrow and Saturday. Practically all 300 principals of senior and four-year schools, plus 35 junior high leaders, and city and county superintendents will attend.
The St. Ann Altar society plans a Halloween party for local children at City Hall next Tuesday evening starting at 7 30. All grade school children are invited to wear masks. Children will entertain parents and vice versa with refreshments served.
Mr and Mrs Doctor Coleman and children Odessa and Tom have moved from Oakdale California to the 120 acre Henry Miller place on Big creek near Bridge. They plan to convert the ranch into a dairy farm and brought 10 head of cows and heifers, making the three day trip from California.
Mrs Albert Panter of Bandon and several others were admitted or treated at Mast Hospital last week. Individuals include Mr Ben Shields of Bridge and Mrs Mary Coteman, with Whitaker also admitted for an infected ear and Evernden returning for an old head injury. Surgeries included Alex McKelvy of Coquille for an old nose. Many patients are listed as recovering satisfactorily from recent treatment.
Lee Leonard Moore returned home Monday from Kansas where he visited friends and relatives. Mrs Clyde White and Elton of Miles City Mont arrived Friday and plan a week visit with her father Samuel Stout. Verner Stout of Eugene visited his father Lamuel Stout from Sunday exping until Tuesday morning.
The Myrtle Point Woman's Club will entertain grade and high school teachers at 8 p m next Monday October 30 in the high school auditorium. Board members are invited to attend. An evening of fun and refreshments are planned. Members are urged to bring their husbands. This party replaces the regular monthly meeting.
Saturday evening about 7 o clock the fire department was called to the John Felsher home in Twin Daks. A storehouse formerly used as a residence burned to the ground causing damage to 600 quarts of canned goods walnuts potatoes and wood. The fire started when Felsher dried walnuts by a small wood stove. The residence and other structures nearby were spared.
Milton Brown of Myrtle Point fired at a wounded deer Sunday near Langlols. The bullet deflected after hitting the deer, striking Harold Strain aged 16 of Langlols in the heart and causing his death. Brown said he could not see Strain during the shot while employed by Walter Sykes.
Mr and Mrs Fred Miller move to Powers where he takes a new post. Mr and Mrs Ed Cole relocate to McKinley completing a local residence change noted in weekly notices.
Local Presbyterian groups host guest day at Schroeder home and a Halloween party for Sunday school children. Golden Rule class plans a church social tomorrow. Choir hosts post rehearsal social at the Porter residence with clergy and members listed. Birthday surprise for Mrs. Lyman Rackleff noted. Methodist class elects officers and meets at the church.
Sunday at the McNair Sykes logging camp featured John Belloni Isaac D Miller and Norman Morsing sharing a very delicious dinner. Local guests included Mr and Mrs R L Tucker entertained at dinner by Mr and Mrs H J Beers. Birdie Tichenor of Portland visited the Guerin home from Wednesday to Sunday morning.
Elder Walter H Dancer longtime pastor of the local Latter Day Saints church was found dead Tuesday morning at his home here after years of alleged bear attacks. He was born September 17 1872 in Lamont Iowa and came to Myrtle Point in 1912 later starting a restaurant with James Glilen. He later engaged in bee and honey business and served as pastor from 1934 until earlier this year. Surviving are Grace Dancer a daughter in Lamoni Iowa and another in Chicago and cousin Miss Alice Dancer matron of the Lamont Iowa old peoples home. Funeral arrangements await word from relatives.
A plumber, Be Fs, was fined and transferred to the court of FE. A. Dodge after the justice was unable to hear the case.
West Myrtle pot refers to Mrs. Rosetta Harry and L Souis Syfert of Coquille as guests at the James Broe tens home. Mrs FE. C. Barker of Myrtle Point was a Sunday visitor at the Paul Breuer home.
Betty DeBoer of Portland studied at business college and visited her gravelford parents. The Woman's Club met at Roland Weekly's home with E C Culbertson as co host. Attendees included Percy Barzee W J DeBoer Verlin Moore Clarence Miller Alden Bright Licoyd Huntley and Weekly. Elis Crosby visited his home here. James Baker and Shirley Ivella Marvin Crosby visited J L Crosby. Ver Bennett Elvene from Eugene helped move Milo Griffin and Donald near Eugene. Verlin Moore undertook a Portland business trip. Alden Bright and Clough Haines shared a hunting trip last week.
A 9 pound son Roy Jr was born Wednesday Oct 18 1939 to Mrs Ray Wright at Mast hospital. Mrs Ray Robinson of Myrtle Point gave birth to Gary Lee a 9 pound boy at Mast hospital Friday Oct 20 1938. The Lambs announce Katherine Ann weighing 8 1 2 pounds born Tuesday Oct 34 1998 at Mastnose to Mr and Mrs Guyamb. Mother and child are doing well. this is the Lambs third child.
Mrs A M Christensen will oversee the rummage sale slated for March 27 and 33 in the east room of The Herald building indicating community fundraising activities.
A complaint filed in Elk County Nev on December 14 1996 lists Margaret Dien seeking custody of a daughter and requesting non support and court-ordered protection amid alleged relationships. The filing also mentions attorney and prosecution fees and other parties Ewalt Keane Donovan and Poth Truck in the matter.
The Rev and Mrs CG Contald will conduct evangelistic services at the Destimensbet church starting Sunday at 1 o'clock in the morning. Evening meetings are scheduled nightly at 7 30 from October 23 to November 17.
