Linn to chair demo at Oregon high school leaders meeting

Named Chairman Leland P. Linn principal of Myrtle Point High school will chair a special group presenting a classroom procedures demonstration at the 11th annual Oregon High School Principals association conference in Salem tomorrow and Saturday. Practically all 300 principals of senior and four-year schools, plus 35 junior high leaders, and city and county superintendents will attend.

The St. Ann Altar society plans a Halloween party for local children at City Hall next Tuesday evening starting at 7 30. All grade school children are invited to wear masks. Children will entertain parents and vice versa with refreshments served.

Colemans Buy 120 Acre Henry Miller Farm Near Bridge

Mr and Mrs Doctor Coleman and children Odessa and Tom have moved from Oakdale California to the 120 acre Henry Miller place on Big creek near Bridge. They plan to convert the ranch into a dairy farm and brought 10 head of cows and heifers, making the three day trip from California.

Hospital Admissions and Recoveries Reported at Mast

Mrs Albert Panter of Bandon and several others were admitted or treated at Mast Hospital last week. Individuals include Mr Ben Shields of Bridge and Mrs Mary Coteman, with Whitaker also admitted for an infected ear and Evernden returning for an old head injury. Surgeries included Alex McKelvy of Coquille for an old nose. Many patients are listed as recovering satisfactorily from recent treatment.

Lee Leonard Moore returned home Monday from Kansas where he visited friends and relatives. Mrs Clyde White and Elton of Miles City Mont arrived Friday and plan a week visit with her father Samuel Stout. Verner Stout of Eugene visited his father Lamuel Stout from Sunday exping until Tuesday morning.

Woman's Club Fetes Teachers At Oct 30 Party

The Myrtle Point Woman's Club will entertain grade and high school teachers at 8 p m next Monday October 30 in the high school auditorium. Board members are invited to attend. An evening of fun and refreshments are planned. Members are urged to bring their husbands. This party replaces the regular monthly meeting.

Fire damages storehouse at John Felsher home

Saturday evening about 7 o clock the fire department was called to the John Felsher home in Twin Daks. A storehouse formerly used as a residence burned to the ground causing damage to 600 quarts of canned goods walnuts potatoes and wood. The fire started when Felsher dried walnuts by a small wood stove. The residence and other structures nearby were spared.

Hunting accident near Langlols claims life of youth

Milton Brown of Myrtle Point fired at a wounded deer Sunday near Langlols. The bullet deflected after hitting the deer, striking Harold Strain aged 16 of Langlols in the heart and causing his death. Brown said he could not see Strain during the shot while employed by Walter Sykes.

Beloved Elder Walter Dancer Found Dead in Myrtle Point Home

Elder Walter H Dancer longtime pastor of the local Latter Day Saints church was found dead Tuesday morning at his home here after years of alleged bear attacks. He was born September 17 1872 in Lamont Iowa and came to Myrtle Point in 1912 later starting a restaurant with James Glilen. He later engaged in bee and honey business and served as pastor from 1934 until earlier this year. Surviving are Grace Dancer a daughter in Lamoni Iowa and another in Chicago and cousin Miss Alice Dancer matron of the Lamont Iowa old peoples home. Funeral arrangements await word from relatives.
