Oregon game wardens keep watch across seasons and counties

Oregon game wardens operate as state police in a four county area with eight officers in Gold Beach Reedsport and Coos Bay. They enforce wildlife laws assist on boats and planes and enforce the Marine Mammal Act while patrolling 1800 to 3000 miles monthly. They emphasize cooperation with residents and warn that poaching carries a heavy class A misdemeanor with fines up to 1000 and weapon confiscation.

Coast guidelines discussed at a public meeting

James Rees of the Department of Land Conservation and Development led a briefing on Draft No. 3 for coastal guidelines. He outlined estuaries, shore erosion, beaches, dunes, and the continental shelf while noting 42 jurisdictions operate within the state and stressing coordinated planning. Final hearings begin Nov. 22 with meetings in Astoria and other cities, and adoption is planned for Dec. 17.

Budget workshop set for October 25 at district office

The 1977-78 budget calendar is tentatively set and the general budget levy will be presented April 19. District No. 41 officials report a pre budget workshop for all budget attendance and board committee members at the district office on Monday October 25 at 8 p.m.

United Way drive continues in Myrtle Point with local solicitors

In its second week the 1976 United Way campaign in Myrtle Point shows strong prospects of success. Co-Chairman Mike Roby lists Ruth Reed Mary Benedict Thelma Bushnell Marsha Stibits Paula Miller and Gloria Evernden as Day Care Center directors aiding solicitations. Milton Stow alias Bree Stow 60412 A St. Myrtle Point is charged with Burglary I over a break in at the Osborne residence and held on $10 000 bail. The Coos Curry Bar Association names AIC Walsh Jr. of Coquille new president replacing retired Fred Eason. Walsh who graduated from the University of Oregon Law School in 1959 has practiced in Coquille and serves as municipal judge in Coquille and Myrtle Point.

Maple Elementary Night Showcases Life In A Primary School

Betty King led Maple Elementary School at the district board meeting to present life in a primary school. First and second graders visited the district office a week earlier to observe teaching materials and activities. A relief effort formed for the Quinn family after a house fire with donations organized by Powers and Myrtle Point residents and the Open Bible Church.
