The Republican central committee of Coos County met in Coquille to endorse Julius Meier for governor and elect a secretary to replace the recently realigned official. Jim Watson, a Meier supporter, offered resignation as state committeeman but it was rejected. The committee also refused to accept resignation, keeping Metschan's influence without formal party backing in the county.

Doyle M R Lee Attends Foster Brother Doyle Funeral
J E Doyle M R Lee traveled to North Bend to attend the funeral of his foster brother J E Doyle. The service was held at 2 o clock from an undertaker establishment. Doyle was 63, a longtime Coos County resident born near Roseburg in Douglas County. His parents died when he was two, and he then lived with the Lee family. Mrs Cruickshank and D E Cruickshank of Coquille also attended.

The Methodist church reports full subscriptions to fund a five year 7500 pledge drive backed by the Board of Home Missions. Victory Sunday will feature a Crusader Sunday School, morning worship on The Emblem of Our Victory, a 1245 fellowship dinner, 230 afternoon service, Epworth League at 690, and evening sermon by the pastor.

A recent week brought rain and a strong wind Monday evening. Rain fell Monday and Monday night with light showers Tuesday. The past month of rain has improved ranges for fall and winter feed.
Arago Church Hosts Large Sunday Feeds and Program
Arago church welcomed a crowded gathering from Myrtle Point and nearby for a Sunday basket dinner after services. 11 Year Old Confesses in Camas Valley School Killing
In Roseburg Oregon a boy of 11 named Raymond Creasy confessed to shooting Melvin McCann 18 near Camas Valley. He described the revenge killing after a quarrel at school and took his father's rifle to the scene. McCann died en route to the hospital.

Wilk Bount Arrested Near North Bend for Liquor Offenses
Tom Wilks was arrested near North Bend last Thursday by federal prohibition agent Clyde R Hedges. He was arraigned Friday before U S Commissioner E A Dodge on charges of manufacture and possession of liquor and possessing materials to counterfeit intoxicants. He waived a hearing and was bound over to the federal grand jury in Portland with bail set at 2500 since he did not furnish it.
