Hunter killed as shot fired in woods near Camp Five

In Myrtle Point a hunter died after a gun misfire while hunting with Ned Humphreys near Camp Five Hoover. The shot fractured the upper, the victim died in hospital. Mrs Fred Stora Dies After Illness In California

Mrs Fred Storn formerly Miss Stella Smith of Coos River died in San Bernardino California yesterday as relatives in Marshfield were informed by telegram Her daughter Rose Marie benefited from a health move south but both mother and child suffered serious ailments Family says Mrs Storn had many friends in Myrtle Point and Coos River Funeral plans call for the remains to be returned to the family home at Coos River.

Cheese and booth draw big crowds at Oregon state fair

George Hampton of Arage and Harvey Hale supervised Coos county’s exhibit in Salem. The fair showcased three cheeses totaling 1347 pounds with a winning guessing contest hitting 700 pounds. Over 2000 attended with four guessing the exact weight. Visitors received cheese samples and veneer pieces as souvenirs. Thirteen counties participated in the exhibition.

City Library Report and Hours Open

The library board met to review circulation totals with 840 adult books 638 children's books 180 magazines 26 mended titles and 88 overdue items. Revenue from overdue books totaled 2.88 and $200 paid to Nooka. fifty old magazines were donated. The library is open daily except Sunday with Monday Wednesday and Saturday evenings and other days in the afternoon.

Funeral services for Myrtle Point rancher killed in honey log camp

John Hal a Tillamook area rancher was killed Thursday morning while logging near the honey log camp. The funeral at Myrtle Point was attended by family members including Mrs Hal who could not travel due to illness. The Oregon Life Insurance Association reported a ten thousand dollar double indemnity policy to Mrs Hal. John and George Hall were working as they felled trees when a broken limb struck John as George stayed with him, John had planned to return to his car in a few days.
