The county convention in Coquille named Verne Lundy as vice chairman with Carl Peterson of Coos Bay as the third regular member, and alternates Roy Kay of Bandon and Howard Leatherman of Coquille.
Mrs Bert Pearson and Mrs Pat Snyder arrange The Herald window with a large box and dolls to solicit Christmas gifts for children of sick and disabled war veterans in Roseburg hospital. The local Legion Auxiliary plans to collect gifts at The Herald for delivery to veterans before Christmas.
Local groups including Leeds Rotary Active and B P W clubs plan a joint meeting at Roberts Heeren Agency to discuss organizing a Chamber of Commerce. Committees from each club will present at 8 pm Friday and invite other clubs to participate in shaping a new chamber.
An emergency Community Chest meeting was held in the Mall Tae tooling to assign territory coverage. Melby announced this year’s total 93.158.42 with replacements for unfilled areas and listed contributions from Myrtle Point Building 1000 and State Charity organizations 990.12 and the Salvation Army among others. Attendees included Mrs. eber Girl Scouts Billering American, George Linn Lions, Rev. Briggs Pa and Manny Jun ior Women and Mrs. Wm. Downing.
