Myrtle Point Woman's Club Book Program Next Monday

The Gravelford Woman club hosts its monthly meeting at 2 30 pm with Library Day and a book shower for the library. President Elmer Russell is asked to arrange book donations. The program includes a quotation response, Grace Linn review of Elizabeth, Belle Whitaker on Book Week, and a Portland books display. The High School Glee club, John Hewitt solo, and book impersonations are planned. Ladies may join the club.

Myrtle Point High School teams up with Eugene High for a Thanksgiving Day game in Eugene. Earlier plans to play Medford High were cancelled due to infantile paralysis cases in Medford. Eugene remains undefeated after defeating Roseburg Albany Salem Corvallis and others.

Appointment of R Wade as State Senator from Coos and Currys

A vacancy in the Oregon state senate from Coos and Currys counties was filled by R Wade who was named to serve the unexpired term of the late Senator John D Goss. The announcement followed a brief meeting in Bandon and Wade, city attorney of Bandon, succeeds Goss whose term ends January 14 1937.

Townsend Dinner Declared Success at VFPFW Hall

The Townsend turkey dinner drew 340 tickets sold and raised about $60 at the VFPFW hall on Wednesday. The Bradford six piece orchestra performed with JL Backman on violin and Glenn Neideigh on piano. The Original Radio Pioneers entertained at Hilend theatre that evening. Youth Charged in Larceny Case Amid River County arrests

Clifford Veryle Ringle 15 was jailed in Myrtle Point on larceny charges and held for Yamhill County after allegedly stealing 20 dollars from Charles Starr of Dayton. He bought a bicycle, traded for a 1926 roadster, wrecked it near Reedsport, and sold the car to a wrecking yard for 4 dollars. County authorities pursued him Monday. Walter Bowron 22 was arrested Sunday for reckless driving and fined 25 dollars plus costs and released. Loyd Wilson 28 Vernon Wisen 27 and Harry W Wilson 19 were detained at Lakeside for illegal possession of food fish, fined 25 dollars each and serving their sentences.

A Woman Christian Temperance Union meeting was held November 14 at the home opposite the high school to elect officers for the new year. Mrs Nellie Epperson was elected president with Dorothy Gibson as vice president Edwin Schroeder secretary and Harris treasurer. New members Sarah Herman Etta Hoffman and Rachel Greige joined. The next meeting is December 5 at Mrs Gibson’s Assembly of God parsonage.

Sitkum Resident Stricken Friday

Sitkum resident Albei Christensen of Brewster Voley attending church in Myrtle Point Friday evening suffered a heart attack and could not be moved home that night. He stayed at the J L Gibson home and Saturday was taken to Knife Hospital in Coquille. Christensen is now very much improved.
