Myrtle Point Chamber Hears Talk On Local Progress

At the Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce dinner meeting George Jenkins county agent discussed land use in Coos County with focus on timber versus agriculture. He noted limited tillable land, a 42 acre Lee Valley nursery, and ongoing brush removal to reduce fire risk as part of a conservation program.

Oldtime Coos County Resident William A McNair Dies at Myrtle Point

William A McNair died suddenly at his Myrtle Point home after earlier minor strokes. Born May 4, 1873 in Santa Rosa, California, he moved to Oregon 56 years ago and farmed in Coos County. He is survived by his wife Annis McNair and five children, plus two brothers. Funeral services were held in Myrtle Point with burial at Norway Cemetery.

Oregon 4 H Cook Jane Walborn Named National Delegate

Jane Walborn of Portland, a 16 year old 4 H member, is selected by State Club Leader H C Seymour as one of Oregon’s delegates to the 17th National 4 H Club Congress in Chicago starting November 23. She has completed extensive feed preparation and 13 years of 4 H work, with hundreds of dishes baked and numerous public demonstrations and judging contests. Walborn will compete with other Western winners for refrigerators and national scholarship funds of 400 300 200 and 100.

Open Season Special in Murderers Creek Area

A special antlerless deer season runs Nov 2 to Nov 10 in the Murderers Creek watershed area and Deer Creek tributaries. MP Couple Feted At Charivari On Spruce Street

A charivari honored Mr and Mrs Wilson at their Spruce street home with about 30 friends toasting the couple who recently married in Klamath Falls. Guests blew horns and played games while Mrs Wilson sang and they enjoyed refreshments. The pair recently traveled to San Francisco Los Angeles and Mexico before settling at Myrtle.

Former Arago Resident Lynn Richardson Dies in Philadelphia

Arago mourns Lynn Richardson an only son of Mrs Anna Clarence Meltens and Mrs Richardson died November 10 1938 after a timber fall while working on a ship in Philadelphia. The community sends sympathy to the Meltens and Richardson families.
