Paul Hammer Named To Mast Hospital Post
Paul Hammer has been named to a post on the Mast hospital staff by Dr. H. H. Thomas owner of the institution. He will begin duties shortly after June 1 at the 40 bed hospital. Hammer came from Green Bay Wisconsin two years ago and has served as office manager for the local Superior Cheese company office.

City of Myrboost approves 1947 48 budget
The budget committee approves a total of 17 064.44 for city operations for the fiscal year ending June 30 1948 and grants city employees an 18 percent wage increase. The plan includes a 2 000 emergency fund and taxes totaling 13 353.00 for the general fund plus 1 706.44 from current-year levies. A public budget meeting is set for Monday June 23 at City Hall to discuss with the City Council.

Two Seriously Hurt In Car Truck Crash
Norman Graham 83 and Mrs Freda Helen Mitchel Portland are hospitalized after a collision between the car they rode in and a logging truck owned by Albert and Carver and driven by Charlie Johnneen. The crash occurred on the Rose Marcins near Myrtle Point seven miles from Laky Brown’s home early Tuesday morning. The male patient suffered a fractured right forearm and left hip with a facial wound. the female sustained multiple injuries.

District 41 Sets June 16 Election On School Budget
District 41 votes June 16 at 8 p m at the Junior High for the annual school election. Proposed budget shows a deficit met by basic school law funds with next year’s estimate at 72404 dollars. Teachers at the Junior High and grammar schools receive about a 25 percent pay rise to cover rising costs.
Henry Harris Pioneer Dies Here Wednesday
Henry Hamilton Harris 80 died Wednesday morning after a long illness. Born June 25 1866 in Macon county Missouri he moved to Coos county in early life and farmed until retirement. Surviving are son Giles daughters Lucille Trigg and Lois Knife sister Miss Mary Harris eight grandsons and one granddaughter. Funeral Saturday at 2 pm Schroeder chapel Rev Phil Ryan officiating with Myrtle Point cemetery burial. Odd Fellows lodge to conduct graveside rites.

Johnny Dayton, local airplane dealer and former B-34 bomber pilot, earned his instructor rating at North Bend airport last Thursday morning. The rating was issued by the Civil Aeronautics Association, Portland, and applies to any aircraft model.

New Schedule for Irrigation Issued This Week
City water department announces a sufficient supply to allow part time irrigation. The schedule designates east of Reseburg highway and east of Eighth Street for 6 pm to 9 pm on Tuesdays Thursdays and Saturdays. Water west of these lines may be used Wednesdays Fridays and Saturdays if announced. The department credits citizen cooperation for replenishing the reservoir and expects this plan to sustain irrigation through the summer.

Power Installs New Regulators At Mountain States Substation
Mountain States Power reports two new 400 amp regulators were installed at the Coquille sub-station to handle rising load. Bill Heed says this marks the third regulator replacement in a year.
